General Advice
Measures that limit mobility and are implemented for the safety of the person/s concerned if physical health is at risk can only be justified if all alternative remedies are exhausted and the therapeutic character can be maintained.
This must be sufficiently and comprehensively documented in the ward and patient records.
Usually these measures are subject to an order of the therapist/s and the attending physician determining the conditions, the manner as well as the proceedings.
In order to avoid physical harm and to warrant appropriate care, regular control and monitoring of the person concerned has to be cared for.
If measures that limit mobility are regularly applied, legal approval is advisable!
The following measures are usually distinguished:
- Protective overalls with securing button at the back
- Wristbands
- Protective gloves
Incorrect application may cause severe injuries to the patient or death. The concerned person’s safety depends on the correct application.
